Supporting Parents of Children Under 11.This is a course designed to enable you to work in a variety of roles involving supporting families with children under 11.You will be expected to gain 30 hours experience working with families with children under 11 in this period. The taught workshops in Cullompton are November 4th and 18th and December 8th 2016, 10.00-16.30.
This module aims to provide students with an understanding of the key issues associated with the effective support of individuals parenting children. The learning is structured to explore associated themes, including child development and child self-esteem. The variations of the construct of family will be investigated and the affect these constructs may have on the parent / child relationship will be debated. Parenting stages and parenting styles will be identified and the importance of appropriate communication with children will be considered. The support of those parenting children with special education needs will be discussed. The module will explore a diverse range of examples of good practice from a variety of providers. Students will be encouraged to apply learning to their practice.
