This module aims to provide students with an understanding of particular issues that can affect family relationships. The learning is structured to explore associated themes, including modern constructions of family, parental separation and divorce. The effect that these constructs may have on the various members of a family will be debated. The impact of abuse and addiction will be identified and the importance of effective nurture will be considered. Supporting families dealing with a range of issues, such as disability or bereavement will be discussed. The module will explore a diverse range of examples of good practice from a variety of providers. Students will be encouraged to apply learning to their practice.You will be expected to gain 30 hours experience working with Families.
